“This looks great, Oliver! I’m so excited.” Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation, NS
Project: I was asked by BCAF to provide a design for their Depave Paradise Bridgewater Project. Depave Paradise projects transform asphalt in urban areas into green space and help fight climate change by enabling more stormwater run-off to infiltrate the soil, reduce the heat island effect, and planting of new native plants. See the Depave Paradise Bridgewater Website here.
The project involved the removal of over 110m² of asphalt. The design concept featured a meandering ‘river’ of new native planting and beach stone and a new seating area with benches and the re-use of granite slabs already on site. A team of volunteers removed the asphalt, constructed the new planted beds and installed the planting over a couple of days . Last day of construction will be September 2017.
